LECTURES In addition to legal work related to animal law issues, Mr. Newman has also lectured extensively to veterinarians throughout North America on the topics of veterinary malpractice, changes in the law as it relates veterinarians, and the evolving status of animals. Mr. Newman has lectured for Veterinary Pet Insurance's Leadership Summit, The American Animal Hospital Association, The Central Veterinary Conference, The University of Pennsylvania's Penn Annual Conference, Veterinary Management Consultants, The Association of Veterinary Practice Management Consultants and Advisors, The North American Veterinary Conference, The Southern California Veterinary Medical Association and the Contra Costa County Veterinary Medical Association. Mr. Newman's work on veterinary cases has resulted in him being interviewed and/or having written and/or appeared in articles for DVM Newsmagazine, Trends, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek Magazine, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, The Christian Science Monitor, 48 Hours with Dan Rather, and The Daily Journal, to name a few. References are available on request. CONSULTATION FOR PRIVATE PRACTICES Mr. Newman is also consulted by private veterinary practices. His service includes the option to have a "secret shopper" evaluate a veterinary practice. In addition to acting as a secret shopper, Mr. Newman reviews files and patient charts to determine the strengths and weaknesses in a veterinary practice, as well as how liability issues may be addressed to help limit liability. Mr. Newman helps form a strategic plan to address areas of improvement to limit the veterinarian's liability. References are available upon request.
