Ruben Newman & FriendsRuben Newman was adopted from the Orange County Animal Shelter by Robert Newman in April 1999.

Ruben has completed Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Obedience Classes.

After earning his Canine Good Citizen award from the American Kennel Club, Ruben began competing in Agility. Ruben currently holds 4 NADAC Agility dog titles.

In AKC, Ruben holds 4 Agility dog titles and is currently working towards his MACH title, the highest Agility title available. Ruben would be the first and only Chihuahua to earn this title.

In addition to accompanying Mr. Newman to work daily, Ruben has attended each veterinary conference where Mr. Newman has lectured, earning thousands of frequent flyer miles.

Ruben is also a Therapy Dog, who first earned certification with Therapy Dogs, International. Not one to rest on his laurels, Ruben went on to then earn dual certification with Delta Therapy Dogs, and is now an inaugural team member of the Skeeter Rx Therapy Dog Team, becoming certified by yet a third therapy dog group.

To date, Ruben has logged more than two hundred visits to Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities and Alzheimer's facilities.

Ruben is also the first and only canine member of Volunteer Clowns of Orange County, a not-for-profit group of volunteers who provide clowns for events benefiting The Special Olympics and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
